Terrafugia Update: First Demonstration of the Transition – A Flying Car


On Saturday October 27, 2012 Terrafugia gave their investors, customers, and key local, federal, and state regulators a chance to see the Transition(R) up close in a “sneak peak” preview event at Lawrence Municipal Airport in North Andover, MA.  What is the Transition?  See our last article (click here) for a more in depth discussion on the Transition and the company.  In short the Transition is a two seat flying car, but not just any flying car.  The Transition is a street legal car, i.e., license plates (which fold down in drive mode) etc., that can be driven on any public roads/highways just as any other car can.  The conversion between drive and flight mode takes less than a minute.

The demonstration went flawlessly. What surprised me most was its rapid acceleration when in street (or drive) mode.  That said a video is worth 1000 words:
